Thermal Analysis of Blown Film Quenching

Richard J. DeJonghe, JR

Exxon Chemical 351 N. Oakwood Rd Lake Zurich, IL 60047

Removal of heat from the melt exiting the die is often the key factor m a blown film systems capability. By weight averaging of thermodynamic properties, the analysis of coextrusion system can be simplified and results accurate to within 5% can be obtained This paper will go over this method of analysis and give some examples where this approach is appropriate and where it isn't.
